Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough neuro and spinal checks and intervene promptly to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Administer and monitor IV infusions, blood transfusions, and PCA/IV pump therapies safely and accurately
• Manage chest tubes, trachs, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placements with confidence and attention to detail
• Document care and clinical changes using the Cerner EMR to maintain clear, timely patient records
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Provide patient and family education, offering compassionate explanations and discharge planning support
• Assist with safe patient handling using lifts and Skylift equipment to protect both patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential (RN title listed as required)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (candidates without these will not be considered)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (Experience: 2)
• Experience in Neuro and Trauma Care, Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or stepdown settings
• Comfortable with chest tube, trach, feeding tube care, and blood transfusions
• Familiarity with EMR systems (Cerner preferred) and IV/pump management
• Team player with a patient-focused attitude and ability to work every other weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing best practices
• Neuro and spinal assessments and NIHSS proficiency
• IV infusion management and PCA pump operation
• Chest tube and trach care, lumbar drain management
• Feeding tube placement and blood transfusion monitoring
• Experience with EMR - Cerner for charting and clinical communication
• Safe patient handling (Skylift, patient lifts) and C-Collar/TLSO brace familiarity
