Shift Type: PACU (Peds) — 5-hour shifts, schedule varies; orientation required; start date 2026-04-20

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide focused postoperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the PACU, monitoring recovery and vital signs
Assess pain and discomfort, initiate appropriate interventions, and collaborate with the care team for timely pain control
Perform thorough handoffs and clear documentation to ensure continuity of care from OR to unit
Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns to providers when needed
Educate families on postoperative care, discharge instructions, and safe recovery at home
Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (valid in Ohio)
Pediatric experience preferred, especially in PACU/recovery settings
BLS required; PALS or pediatric-focused certifications preferred
Comfortable with pediatric assessment, airway management basics, and postoperative care
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with surgical and anesthesia teams

Education

Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong pediatric assessment and monitoring skills
Familiarity with PACU workflow, recovery protocols, and postoperative documentation
Ability to recognize and respond to airway and hemodynamic changes
Compassionate family-centered care and effective caregiver education
Teamwork, adaptability, and prioritization in a fast-paced perioperative environment
