Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage oncology, hematology and sickle cell patients with clinical confidence and compassion
• Provide skilled nursing care including IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration and central line management
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias using 12-lead EKG interpretation and ACLS-guided interventions
• Administer emergency medications and escalate care appropriately when patients become unstable
• Collaborate with APPs, ED physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate same-day care and appropriate dispositions
• Build strong therapeutic relationships with patients and families in a smaller-unit setting focused on continuity of care
• Document accurately in EPIC to ensure clear communication and continuity across teams

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience (must meet within the last 3 years)
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience — HARD STOP requirement
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Current BCLS (BLS), ACLS and NIHSS certifications (required)
• PALS and stroke certification preferred
• Proven skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration and central line care
• Comfort with triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and working in level I/II trauma and stroke-certified settings
• Experience managing patient ratios around 1:3-4

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and oncology/hematology patient care
• Sickle cell crisis management and symptom control
• Patient triage and disposition planning
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy and blood product administration
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic charting
• Use of PCA pumps and handling emergency medications
• Ability to float between ICC and ED and adapt to varying acuity
