Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for medically complex MICU patients, including ventilator management and ARDS support
• Respond rapidly and competently to codes and cardiac arrests, participating in TTM and advanced resuscitation protocols
• Perform and assist with procedures such as bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube insertion/removal, rapid sequence intubation, and thoracentesis
• Manage vasoactive drip titration, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation monitoring, and blood product administration safely
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias to drive timely clinical interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, and rapid response to optimize patient outcomes
• Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain clear, compliant patient records
• Mentor colleagues and support unit staffing needs, including occasional floating to telemetry units

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of critical care / MICU experience required; first-time travel nurses not accepted
• Travel nursing experience required — NO 1ST TIME TRAVELERS hard stop
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Proven experience with Epic charting
• Comfort with high-acuity patient ratios (standard 2:1; may experience grouped boarder scenarios up to 4:1)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management, including care of ventilated patients and interpretation of ABGs
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP management and noninvasive ventilation
• Central and arterial line care/management, PICC line management, and arterial line management
• Chest tube assistance and management, suctioning (ETT/NT), and bedside procedural support
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely and manage continuous IV sedation
• Blood product administration and advanced IV therapy skills
• Code blue response, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid sequence intubation support
• Familiarity with specialized equipment such as Drager ventilators, Phillips monitors, Zoll defibrillators, proning systems and TTM devices
