Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med-Surg nursing care to adult patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Monitor patient status closely during night hours and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and according to policy
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and carry out individualized care plans
• Step into Long Term Care coverage when needed, ensuring continuity and dignity for residents
• Respond effectively to emergencies and support unit stability during night operations
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and post-discharge needs

Qualifications

• Current Alaska Registered Nurse (AK RN) license is required
• Med-Surg nursing experience required; ability to cover Long Term Care as needed
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts and in a rapid response / crisis environment
• Ability to complete credentialing and required hospital onboarding promptly

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment on the Med-Surg population
• Proficient medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Skilled in documentation and maintaining accurate electronic health records
• Effective communication and teamwork under night-shift conditions
• Basic emergency response and ACLS/PALS knowledge for acute situations
• Flexibility to adapt between Med-Surg and Long Term Care workflows
