Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered Med/Surg nursing care for medical and post-op patients on a 30-bed unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement appropriate interventions
• Administer medications safely and accurately following hospital policies
• Interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and respond appropriately (dysrhythmia exam required)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT and pharmacy for comprehensive patient care
• Serve as first-to-float when needed and assist with patient throughput and unit needs
• Utilize Cerner for electronic charting and accurate documentation of patient care
• Support a culture of safety and teamwork while maintaining assigned nurse-to-patient ratios (1:5)

Qualifications

• Active RN license (license required to submit)
• BLS certification required
• COVID vaccination required (per facility policy)
• 2 years minimum Med/Surg experience; 2-3 years in specialty strongly preferred
• Prior travel nurse experience required — you’ve done this before and thrive in new environments
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and able to pass a dysrhythmia competency exam
• Willingness to float to telemetry and other Med/Surg floors as needed

Education

• BSN not required (site indicates BSN Required: No); active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and post-operative care
• Patient assessment and clinical decision making
• Medication administration and IV therapy awareness
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation
• Electronic charting proficiency with Cerner
• Teamwork, flexibility, and strong communication skills
• Ability to work with monitor techs and use portable telemetry when required
