Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care nursing for ICU/CVICU/PCU patients, including post-op cardiac and COVID patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips; act decisively on dysrhythmias and STEMI/PCI events
• Manage ventilators, assist with troubleshooting and weaning, and support intubations using Glidescope adjuncts
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and apply findings to ventilator and medication adjustments
• Titrate vasoactive drips, sedatives, paralytics and other critical care infusions safely and per protocol
• Care for invasive devices: arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, chest tubes, EVDs, and post-op surgical drains
• Operate and collaborate on CRRT (Prismaflex), IABP, Impella and VAD care when indicated
• Serve in rapid response and code blue teams as needed; provide leadership support when acting as charge

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN license eligible to work in Arizona
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of progressive critical care/ICU nursing experience preferred (per job posting)
• Strong EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills — clinicians must pass dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) prior to contract
• Experience with ventilator management and troubleshooting, including high-flow oxygen therapies
• Ability to titrate critical care drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, etc.)
• Preferred: hands-on experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT; experience with Impella/TAVR/VAD care is a plus
• Willingness to float across critical care service line and work required weekends/holidays per staffing needs

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (ADN/diploma acceptable), though ongoing education is supported

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals and CVICU/post-op cardiac care
• Ventilator management, weaning and troubleshooting
• Cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• ABG interpretation and application to clinical care
• Management of invasive lines and devices (art lines, Swan-Ganz, chest tubes, EVD)
• CRRT operation basics and familiarity with Prismaflex
• Medication titration of pressors, sedatives, paralytics and antiarrhythmics
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and bedside telemetry (Nihon Kohden monitors)
