Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and ECG rhythms to detect patient changes quickly
• Titrate cardiac drips (e.g., heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone) safely and according to protocol
• Provide post-operative care for cardiovascular surgery patients, including monitoring for complications
• Perform sterile procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab verification required)
• Maintain sterile field and high standards of infection control during procedures
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes to the care team
• Collaborate with tele-monitoring techs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Respond to emergencies and escalate per unit and trauma protocols

Qualifications

• Active RN with at least 2 years of recent clinical experience (as listed)
• BLS certification required
• Level 1 trauma experience required (explicit requirement)
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed prior to acceptance)
• Successful completion of SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion & central line dressing change) — pass/fail
• Competence with sterile technique and frequent cardiac telemetry skills
• Comfort titrating drips and managing common cardiac drips (heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone)
• Travel teams must have their own vehicle; meet appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit test)

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Drip titration and management of heparin/Cardizem/amiodarone
• Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change with sterile technique
• Familiarity with GE telemetry monitors and off-unit tele tech workflows
• Experience with Cerner charting
• Basic respiratory support familiarity: CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC
• Ability to work effectively with 1:3 or 1:4 nurse:patient ratios
