Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care to adult BMT and inpatient hematology/oncology patients
• Administer chemotherapy safely and manage post-chemotherapy body fluid handling
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to promptly address cardiac changes
• Manage central lines, PICCs, peripheral lines and perform central line blood draws
• Administer and monitor blood and blood products according to protocol
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, PT, respiratory and social services
• Use EPIC for accurate, timely documentation and care coordination
• Recognize and act on oncologic emergencies such as sepsis or graft-versus-host disease
• Support infection prevention protocols and safe patient handling during transplants

Qualifications

• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• EPIC experience required (computerized charting)
• Minimum 2 years total nursing experience with at least 1 year of inpatient hematology/oncology experience within the most recent 3 years
• Demonstrated experience in medical-surgical telemetry settings and BMT or inpatient oncology preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Chemotherapy administration and safe body fluid handling
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Central line, PICC and implanted line care and sterile dressing changes
• Blood product administration and transfusion monitoring
• Feeding tube care and nasal cannula oxygen administration
• Rapid response team utilization and emergent intervention
• Familiarity with stem cell therapies including autologous, syngeneic and allogeneic transplants and CAR-T
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and oncologic emergency recognition
