Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications with careful monitoring and documentation
• Collaborate with mental health teams to coordinate care and ensure continuity
• Provide crisis assessment and stabilization when urgent behavioral health needs arise
• Document clinical encounters thoroughly in the EMR and maintain compliance with facility policies
• Participate in orientation and handoffs to ensure seamless coverage for patients

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completed residency in Psychiatry
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in California (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Experience working in mental health/psychiatry settings; correctional health experience a strong plus
• Comfortable prescribing and managing psychotropic medications and conducting evaluations
• Ability to complete facility onboarding and orientation upon start date

Education

• MD or DO (Psychiatry residency completed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric care
• Skilled in psychiatric evaluation, risk assessment, and crisis intervention
• Clear, timely clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams
• Understanding of behavioral health treatment planning and monitoring
