Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department with initiative and professional judgment
• Triage patients rapidly and accurately, addressing physical and psychosocial needs
• Assess patient condition, initiate appropriate interventions, and monitor responses to treatment
• Communicate patient status, diagnostic results, and care plans clearly with physicians and mid-level providers
• Give direction to ED techs, registration staff, and allied health personnel to maintain smooth patient flow
• Operate and troubleshoot manual and electronic medical equipment as needed
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient education thoroughly and timely
• Participate in a culture of teamwork, compassion, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Current MT State RN license (required)
• Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required
• BSN preferred
• CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) preferred
• Comfort with IV skills, patient assessment, and basic computer/office skills

Education

• Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
• Triage and rapid, accurate patient assessment
• IV skills and ability to operate clinical equipment
• Basic computer literacy and documentation skills
• Leadership and direction of ED techs and registration staff
• Strong communication and teamwork with physicians, mid-level providers, and allied health staff
