Roles & Responsibilities
- Partner with SEARHC clinical leaders and the CNA clinical educator to design and deliver meaningful education for nursing and CNA staff
- Develop, select, and implement curriculum and training programs that follow evidence-based practices and policy standards
- Standardize and streamline clinical competency programs across sites to support accreditation and quality goals
- Coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA/UAS and support effective preceptorships for new hires
- Evaluate educational activities and competencies to ensure impact on patient care and staff development
- Serve as a collaborative member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to consortium-wide projects
- Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, promoting a positive training environment focused on continuity and patient-centered care
- Travel to Wrangell and Sitka (by jet, small aircraft, and ferry) as needed to support on-site education and competency assessment
Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited nursing program (required)
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required; Direct hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska license before the start date
- BLS for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- Clinical competency certification required within 3 months of hire (and maintained per policy)
- 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
- 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred and helpful for leadership responsibilities
Education
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in clinical education, curriculum development, and competency assessment
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and evidence-based practice
- Experience with long-term care and geriatric patient populations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to lead training and mentor staff
- Familiarity with education/communication tools such as Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
- Ability to design and evaluate educational activities, ensuring policy compliance and quality outcomes
- Comfort coordinating student clinical placements and supporting preceptorships
