Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality mammography exams following department protocols and radiologist direction
• Ensure patient safety and comfort by using two forms of identification and obtaining informed consent
• Educate patients about procedures and address questions with empathy and clarity
• Maintain strict radiation safety practices (ALARA) and adhere to FDA mammography guidelines
• Complete daily quality assurance tasks and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and engage service engineers when needed to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EHR and ensure prior studies and paperwork are available
• Support accreditation and audit processes by maintaining required documentation and structured reporting
• Assist, train, and cross-train imaging staff to promote a skilled and flexible team
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance goals

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
• ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
• Preferred: Two years' prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist and experience in CT/MRI
• Experience with PACS, RIS/HIS and electronic health records preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Successful background check, pre-employment drug screen, and Employee Health meeting required

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in mammography and breast imaging techniques
• Strong understanding of radiation safety (ALARA) and QA processes
• Proficiency with PACS/RIS and electronic health record systems
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment per manufacturer guidelines
• Patient-centered communication and education skills
• Familiarity with accreditation standards and structured reporting
• Comfort with cross-training into CT, MRI, and DEXA as needed
• Organizational skills for inventory management and documentation accuracy
