Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection surveillance and prevention activities across the hospital with an eye for detail
• Collaborate closely with Operating Room and Sterile Processing teams to ensure best practices
• Develop, update, and implement infection control policies and protocols that protect patients and staff
• Educate clinical and non-clinical staff on infection prevention, PPE use, and outbreak response
• Investigate potential exposures and coordinate timely interventions and reporting
• Perform audits and provide feedback to drive continuous improvement in compliance and outcomes
• Serve as a visible infection control resource to frontline teams and hospital leadership

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Hawaii or eligible for state licensure
• Proven experience in infection control within a community hospital setting
• Hands-on experience supporting Operating Room and Sterile Processing practices
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or willingness to obtain
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or working toward CIC is a strong plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead interdisciplinary initiatives

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Additional training or coursework in infection prevention/epidemiology is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of infection prevention principles, sterile technique, and OR protocols
• Familiarity with surveillance methodologies, data interpretation, and reporting
• Ability to develop clear policies, conduct audits, and implement corrective actions
• Comfortable educating staff at all levels and delivering concise, actionable feedback
• Working knowledge of relevant regulatory standards (CDC guidance, facility requirements)
