Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients
• Perform thorough assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and document in Cerner
• Administer medications and therapies safely, following oncology protocols and facility guidelines
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-focused care
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, including post-procedure care (e.g., thoracentesis, echo monitoring)
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, discharge needs and symptom management
• Support unit flow during admissions, discharges and transfers while maintaining high standards of safety

Qualifications

• Current RN license (required) — candidates without an appropriate license will not be considered
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (experience in oncology or med-surg highly valued)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred — candidates with chemo experience or certification will be considered first
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR and standard med-surg/oncology equipment
• Team-player attitude, willingness to learn, and reliability for scheduled weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and med-surg competency
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
• Medication administration and safety, including oncology regimens (with chemo certification)
• Clinical assessment, triage and post-procedure monitoring
• Strong communication, patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a 24-bed unit with typical RN-to-patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
