Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU
• Monitor and manage hemodynamics and mechanical ventilation to ensure stability
• Deliver post-operative care for cardiac patients including post-CABG management
• Perform and support complex procedures in coordination with intensivists
• Document thoroughly in the Meditech system and complete bedside shift report
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient care plans
• Support ECMO/heart transplant or CVICU cases when needed and escalate concerns promptly
• Maintain a compassionate patient- and family-centered approach at all times

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU / critical care nursing experience
• Proven experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfortable with post-CABG care and caring for ventilated patients
• Meditech experience preferred
• CVICU, ECMO, or heart transplant experience strongly preferred
• Ability to float to other ICUs or PCU as needed and maintain professional bedside communication

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator weaning principles
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
• Post-operative cardiac care including CABG and cardiac surgical recovery
• ECMO fundamentals and caring for high-acuity cardiac patients
• Proficient documentation in Meditech or similar EMR systems
• Strong teamwork, communication, and bedside shift reporting skills
• Infection prevention, safety protocols, and adherence to unit guidelines
