Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to PCU patients, prioritizing safety and dignity
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor patient conditions, and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with clarity and empathy
• Document care, observations, and interventions in the medical record promptly and legibly
• Participate in unit-based process improvements to enhance patient outcomes and workflow efficiency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be licensed (or eligible) to practice in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience (PCU or med-surg preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to a travel assignment and integrate with a new team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Active RN license (state-specific) and required certifications as noted

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of progressive care unit (PCU) patient populations and common interventions
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Skill in interpreting telemetry, lab values, and clinical trends
• Familiarity with medication administration safety and IV therapy
• Team-oriented mindset with effective time management and prioritization skills
