Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope occupational therapy evaluation and treatment across all ages and diagnoses
• Deliver outpatient and inpatient care with thoughtful treatment planning and ADL training
• Conduct home visits and village travel to bring care to patients where they live
• Collaborate closely with medical providers to coordinate patient-centered care
• Incorporate evidence-based practice into individualized plans of care
• Adapt and modify treatment plans using age-specific and patient-specific considerations
• Document patient care clearly and professionally in medical records and correspondence
• Demonstrate cultural competence and respect for community values while delivering care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (minimum requirement)
• Current Alaska OT license or a good-standing OT license from another state while awaiting Alaska licensure
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Comfort with village travel and working in community-based/home-visit settings
• Willingness to complete required immunizations or provide acceptable titers: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tdap, Polio
• Ability to pass background checks, a 10-panel drug screen (within last 90 days), and required identity/credential verification
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across cultures

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and comprehensive treatment planning
• ADL training and therapeutic exercise prescription
• Experience with inpatient, outpatient and long-term care environments
• Skilled documentation and medical correspondence
• Familiarity with ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities (available in hospital-based settings)
• Ability to apply evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning
• Didactic/teaching skills to support Alaska’s Direct Access privilege
• Cultural competence and effective cross-cultural communication
• Comfort bringing portable therapy tools for village-based care
