Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient initial assessments and document findings clearly in EPIC
• Perform utilization review using InterQual criteria to support appropriate care decisions
• Manage case assignments from intake through discharge planning and follow-up
• Coordinate care with physicians, social work, discharge planners and payors to ensure smooth transitions
• Advocate for patients and families, ensuring care plans reflect clinical needs and patient goals
• Ensure documentation, utilization decisions, and case workflows meet regulatory and facility standards
• Communicate timely status updates and recommendations to the care team and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (required)
• Strong, demonstrable Utilization Review experience with InterQual (required)
• EPIC EMR documentation experience
• Experience in acute care hospital settings
• Solid case management skills and excellent clinical assessment ability
• Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

• InterQual clinical criteria and utilization review processes
• Acute care clinical workflows and discharge planning
• EPIC documentation best practices
• Patient assessment, triage, and care coordination
• Clinical documentation to support utilization decisions and authorizations
• Familiarity with case management standards, regulatory expectations, and payer interactions
