Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 3x12 Day: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (three 12-hour day shifts per week, may include weekends) OR 3x12 Night: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (three 12-hour night shifts per week, may include weekends). Rotating schedule including weekends to accommodate unit needs; scheduling requests related to outside employment are not considered.

Hours per Week: 60

Candidate Pay Rate: $74 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert hands-on Labor & Delivery nursing care for high-risk and routine obstetric patients
• Perform continuous and external fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart rate patterns to guide care
• Circulate confidently for C-sections and assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
• Administer and manage critical medications including magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams (RT, pharmacy, PT, rapid response) to optimize patient outcomes
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Support and educate patients and families through labor, delivery and peripartum care with compassion and clinical skill

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (state licensure required; pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience — this is a hard requirement
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (NCC EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN Intermediate)
• AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections and assist with deliveries
• Experience working in large hospital settings highly preferred
• Ability to work occasional weekends per hospital scheduling procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in External Fetal Monitoring (EFM) and fetal monitoring interpretation
• Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Skilled in circulating for C-sections and assisting with vaginal deliveries
• Familiarity with management of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, hypertension, diabetes in pregnancy
• Medication administration experience: magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, antihypertensives
• Comfortable with high-acuity obstetric procedures: cervical cerclage, D&C, cesarean sections, versions
• Proficient charting in Epic and clear clinical communication
