Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care for Med Surg and Rehab patients, including stroke and general rehabilitation cases
• Monitor cardiac and telemetry patients closely and respond to changes in condition
• Manage complex lines and devices such as PICC lines, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and ports
• Administer medications and blood products safely and accurately
• Start and maintain IVs, perform venous blood draws, and collaborate with IV teams as needed
• Perform wound care, pressure ulcer prevention, and ongoing skin assessments
• Deliver patient and family teaching on diabetic care, discharge planning and home safety
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to support the OSU system
• Chart thoroughly in EPIC and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including PT, RT, pharmacy and social services
• Participate in emergency response and rapid response teams when called

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg or Rehab nursing experience
• BCLS required
• ACLS and CPI preferred
• EPIC electronic charting experience required
• Comfortable with floating to similar acuity units and working with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, tracheostomy and feeding tube care
• Strong communication skills for effective patient teaching and family engagement

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring interpretation
• Tracheostomy care and suctioning techniques
• Feeding tube (NG/PEG) management and enteral feeding practices
• Wound care and pressure ulcer prevention
• IV therapy, central line care and blood product administration
• Pulse oximetry, incentive spirometry and supplemental oxygen delivery
• Diabetic teaching and blood glucose monitoring
• Mobility and assistive device use for rehabilitation patients
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and PPE best practices
• Proven ability to chart in EPIC and communicate across disciplines
