Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional perioperative and postoperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Administer medications and manage IV/infusion therapies with precision and safety
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor hemodynamic status and respond to alarms, trends and emergent changes
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Accurately document patient care, interventions and clinical progress in the EHR

Qualifications

• Active RN license or ability to obtain licensure in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in cardiovascular surgery or a closely related acute cardiac/operating room setting
• Current BLS required; ACLS highly preferred
• Comfortable with sterile technique, surgical workflows and intraoperative/critical care monitoring
• Strong teamwork, communication and critical thinking skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of perioperative cardiac nursing and post-op recovery best practices
• Skill with hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting cardiac telemetry
• Familiarity with common cardiac medications, titrations and infusion pumps
• Proficient documentation in electronic health records and handoff communication
• Ability to prioritize high-acuity tasks and remain calm under pressure
