Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, take accurate vital signs, and document histories and current medications in the chart
• Prepare exam and procedure rooms and assist the provider with OB/GYN procedures like Pap smears, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB, IUD and Nexplanon insertions/removals, and NSTs
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection, properly label and prepare labs for processing
• Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications as directed by the provider
• Explain clinic policies and procedures to patients clearly and compassionately within your scope
• Support department data tracking and quality monitoring to help improve patient care
• Handle telephone triage tasks, pharmacy refill requests, and timely follow-up phone calls

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program (required)
• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Minimum 2 years working as an MA in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in an OB/GYN setting performing PAP, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB, IUD and Nexplanon procedures, and NST
• Proficiency with blood draws/venipuncture and specimen handling
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) current
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations)
• Experience with medical insurance, referral processes, and benefit plans
• CMA certification preferred

Education

• Medical Assistant Diploma (DAPIP-accredited program)
• High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in vitals, patient rooming, and preparing patients for exams
• Experienced with Pap smears, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB, IUD/Nexplanon insertions and removals, and NSTs
• Strong phlebotomy/venipuncture and specimen collection skills
• Comfortable using Electronic Medical Records, especially Epic
• Proficient in telephone triage, pharmacy refill workflows, and reviewing lab results
• Ability to set up/clean procedure rooms and follow infection control practices
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
