Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, respectful bedside care to geriatric residents
Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team
Support safe mobility and transfer techniques to prevent falls and injuries
Maintain clear, timely documentation and communicate with interdisciplinary staff
Help create a calm, dignified environment that honors resident preferences and routines

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent required
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Comfortable working the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM night shift
Compassionate, patient-centered attitude with strong communication skills
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
Previous experience caring for geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of an approved GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

Basic nursing assistant skills: vital signs, ADLs, toileting and feeding assistance
Knowledge of infection control and resident safety best practices
Familiarity with resident charting and basic electronic documentation
Safe lift/transfer techniques and mobility support
Teamwork, dependable attendance, and strong observational skills
