Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care for patients, assisting with activities of daily living
• Perform routine patient checks and report changes to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe positioning to promote patient comfort and safety
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
• Support infection control practices, hygiene, and safe handling of equipment
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Create a positive, respectful environment that preserves patient dignity

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
• Valid state authorization to practice in New Mexico
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable with routine patient handling, transfers, and personal care tasks
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a team
• Previous experience in a long-term care, rehab, or hospital setting is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Practical knowledge of ADLs, patient hygiene, and vital sign monitoring
• Understanding of infection prevention and safe patient handling techniques
• Ability to document care accurately and follow care plans
• Good observational skills to notice and escalate changes in patient condition
• Compassionate bedside manner and effective communication with patients and families
