Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care for medical-surgical and specialty surgery patients
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Execute safe, accurate clinical interventions and document care clearly in the medical record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team using SBAR and other communication tools to optimize outcomes
• Provide patient and family education focused on recovery, discharge planning, and safety
• Serve as a clinical resource and model professional behavior that supports a positive unit culture
• Participate in unit-based council (shared governance) and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Active Michigan nursing license (provide LARA and Nursys verification)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• 2+ years of medical-surgical (MS) nursing experience (required)
• Completed RN skills checklist within the past year (required for RN specialties)
• Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Ability to pass health system-wide profile standards and any facility-specific onboarding

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical documentation
• Care planning using clinical pathways and evidence-based practice
• Interdisciplinary communication and SBAR proficiency
• Patient education and safety-focused care delivery
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced unit
• Experience with general, vascular, bariatric, plastic and trauma surgery care
• Familiarity with stroke unit protocols and post-op nursing care
• Leadership through shared governance and teamwork
