Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert peri-procedural nursing care in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath and EP labs
• Monitor patients closely during procedural sedation and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Assist with complex procedures including PCI, TAVR, left/right heart catheterizations, and device placements
• Manage IV therapy, central line assistance, blood product administration, and vasoactive infusions
• Perform vascular sheath removal and apply topical hemostasis and vascular closure devices with precision
• Obtain and interpret 12‑lead ECGs and continuously monitor hemodynamics throughout procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe transfers, handoffs, and patient throughput
• Float to other UCSF facilities as needed and adapt to varying clinical environments

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required)
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• 5+ years experience in Cardiac Cath / Interventional Cardiology / Electrophysiology, including cath/EP recovery
• Hands-on experience with Structural Heart procedures and TAVR (strongly preferred)
• Travel nursing experience and ability to float across UCSF sites (required)
• COVID-19 vaccination plus booster per facility policy (medical/religious exemptions only)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology workflows (PCI, left/right heart cath)
• Experience with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose) and topical hemostasis techniques
• Skilled in procedural sedation monitoring and use of reversal agents
• Comfortable with ECG acquisition/monitoring and interpreting rhythm changes
• Familiarity with advanced support devices: IABP, Impella, VAD insertion/management
• IV therapy expertise, central line assistance, and blood product administration
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE best practices
• Ventilator management experience is a plus
