Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to keep patients comfortable
- Monitor and document patient condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment for patients
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Engage patients with dignity and respect, fostering a reassuring and positive atmosphere
- Follow facility policies and procedures, including accurate charting and handoffs
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (required) — must be in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working 12+ hour day shifts and covering weekends
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow facility protocols and documentation standards
- Experience in long-term care or similar settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Understanding of basic infection control and safety precautions
- Familiarity with charting and basic electronic health record use
- Good observational skills for noticing subtle changes in patient condition
- Time management and prioritization during busy shifts
- Compassionate bedside manner and ability to engage patients respectfully
