Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patient phone calls and MyChart messages, addressing concerns promptly and compassionately
• Use Epic to manage the in-basket, document encounters clearly, and track follow-up actions
• Perform thorough, objective documentation of patient history, medications, allergies, and call outcomes
• Coordinate pharmacy refill requests, insurance verification, and authorization form processing
• Initiate follow-up phone calls to ensure patient questions are resolved and care plans are clear
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and clinical coworkers to support continuity of care
• Float within your scope as needed to support clinic needs while maintaining quality and safety

Qualifications

• MA-R required (pending MA-R accepted); MA-C preferred — current credential required or pending as noted
• BLS certification required
• Previous experience with Epic and in-basket management / call intake required
• Familiarity with healthcare terminology and adult outpatient clinic workflows
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to document thoroughly
• Reliable transportation and local candidates only (locals required)

Education

• MA-R required (Medical Assistant — Registered) or MA-C preferred
• BLS certification required
• Pending MA-R or MA-C accepted per job posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Epic charting and in-basket workflows
• Skilled in telephone triage and patient communication
• Experience with documentation best practices and objective charting
• Comfortable handling pharmacy refill requests, insurance verification, and authorization forms
• Knowledge of adult outpatient clinic operations, including cardiology and primary care specialties
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize follow-up, and collaborate with the care team
