Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and detect changes in rhythm to keep patients safe and informed
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips under protocol, ensuring precise medication management
- Provide post-open-heart and post-operative cardiac care with attention to detail and compassion
- Collaborate with the surgical cardiology and vascular teams to coordinate timely, high-quality care
- Respond rapidly to clinical changes and escalate concerns to physicians and advanced practice providers
- Educate patients and families about cardiac care, procedures, and recovery expectations
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly and accurately in the medical record
- Participate in Trinity-specific competency assessments and skills checklists to maintain excellence
Qualifications
- Valid RN license (license/certificate verification required)
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (preferred)
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation (preferred)
- Experience caring for post-open-heart patients and managing cardiac drips (preferred)
- Ability to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Must meet health requirements: fit test, immunizations, 2-step PPD or IGRA, and drug screen
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition skills
- Comfort with post-operative cardiac and vascular patient care
- Competence with cardiac drips, IV titration, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization
- Clear clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Ability to learn and complete facility-specific competencies quickly
