Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and detect changes in rhythm to keep patients safe and informed
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips under protocol, ensuring precise medication management
• Provide post-open-heart and post-operative cardiac care with attention to detail and compassion
• Collaborate with the surgical cardiology and vascular teams to coordinate timely, high-quality care
• Respond rapidly to clinical changes and escalate concerns to physicians and advanced practice providers
• Educate patients and families about cardiac care, procedures, and recovery expectations
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly and accurately in the medical record
• Participate in Trinity-specific competency assessments and skills checklists to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Valid RN license (license/certificate verification required)
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (preferred)
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation (preferred)
• Experience caring for post-open-heart patients and managing cardiac drips (preferred)
• Ability to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Must meet health requirements: fit test, immunizations, 2-step PPD or IGRA, and drug screen

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition skills
• Comfort with post-operative cardiac and vascular patient care
• Competence with cardiac drips, IV titration, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization
• Clear clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Ability to learn and complete facility-specific competencies quickly
