Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts (examples: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM). Schedule varies by rotation, every-other-weekend required, first-to-float on shift as needed. Shift type: day (rotating)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced ER environment
- Perform rapid assessment and triage; initiate STEMI and stroke protocols when indicated
- Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, RTs, and monitor techs to deliver coordinated patient care
- Interpret telemetry and monitor strips and respond to changes in cardiac rhythm
- Troubleshoot ventilators at the bedside and coordinate with respiratory therapy for ongoing management
- Deliver timely sepsis recognition and interventions, including timely boluses for pediatric and adult patients
- Support behavioral health management and utilize tele-psych and crisis team resources when needed
- Document thoroughly in Cerner to maintain accurate, timely patient records
Qualifications
- Current RN license in California (active and in good standing)
- Minimum 3 years nursing experience, with strong Emergency Department experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
- Comfortable with telemetry interpretation, ventilator troubleshooting, and phlebotomy familiarity
- Experience caring for both pediatric and adult patients; strong pediatric experience highly desired
- Ability to work a 4:1 ratio in a high-volume ED and manage multiple acuity levels
- Willingness to work every-other-weekend and major/minor holiday coverage per unit policy
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required
- Unit-specific orientation: 3 days (2 days on-floor, 1 day with educator)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in Emergency Nursing practices and rapid assessment
- Familiarity with trauma protocols (note: travelers typically not assigned primary trauma bays)
- Proven ability to recognize and rapidly respond to STEMI and stroke presentations
- Sepsis recognition and timely intervention skills for adults and children
- Comfort with Cerner (FirstNet) EMR charting and documentation
- Strong communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and family members
- Competence in reading monitor/telemetry strips and delegating appropriately to techs
