Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess PCU/telemetry patients, using strong clinical judgment to detect changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following best practices and hospital policies
• Interpret telemetry and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Respond quickly and effectively to rapid responses, codes, and other emergencies
• Provide compassionate patient and family education, helping them understand care plans and next steps
• Float to other areas as needed, supporting unit staffing while maintaining high standards of care
• Participate in handoffs and shift reports to ensure smooth transitions and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2 years hospital experience and 2+ years of specialty PCU/stepdown/telemetry experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH certification required
• Experience with Meditech preferred
• Comfort with call requirements and the ability to float to other units as needed

Education

• Nursing degree required; ADN or BSN commonly held by candidates (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
• Proficient clinical assessment and critical thinking
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments
• Accurate clinical documentation, ideally in Meditech
• Ability to manage emergencies and prioritize tasks under pressure
