Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care for patients and families
• Monitor fetal status and interpret fetal monitoring strips to support safe labor management
• Manage inductions and titrate medication per protocol (Pitocin, Cervidil) with vigilant assessment
• Perform newborn assessments and transition care immediately after delivery
• Respond swiftly and effectively to OB emergencies including shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage
• Assist in operative births including C-sections and vacuum/forceps deliveries as needed
• Document care accurately and timely in Meditech and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with neonatology via tele-med and support NICU intermediate care when required

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Tennessee preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring training
• Experience with induction management, newborn assessment/transition, and couplet care
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation and CPN central monitoring
• Comfort assisting with C-sections and operative deliveries; OB emergency response experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; willingness to float within the facility if needed

Education

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced fetal monitoring interpretation and fetal assessment
• Labor & delivery workflows including induction protocols and recovery care
• Newborn assessment, stabilization and transition procedures
• Management of OB emergencies: shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, urgent C-section response
• Clinical documentation in Meditech and use of CPN central monitoring
• Use of unit equipment: IV pumps, infant warmers, PCA pumps and tele-med systems
• Ability to provide couplet care and support NICU intermediate care when needed
