Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve swallowing, cognitive-communication, and overall communication abilities
- Lead and guide delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations
- Perform assessments and monitor resident progress, adjusting plans of care as needed
- Provide interventions to reduce aspiration risk and improve safe swallowing
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated resident-centered care
- Document services accurately and maintain regulatory compliance with skilled nursing standards
- Coach residents and families on communication strategies to enhance daily interactions and quality of life
Qualifications
- Missouri state license (valid, unrestricted) in Speech-Language Pathology
- CCC-SLP (ASHA) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings
- Valid driver’s license in the state of employment
- Familiarity with skilled nursing regulations, procedures, and long-term care guidelines
- Ability to meet the educational requirements for state licensure
Education
- Must meet educational requirements of state licensure (educational credentials as required for Speech-Language Pathology licensure)
Knowledge & Skills
- Treatment planning for swallowing, cognitive-communication, and speech
- Swallowing therapy and aspiration reduction techniques
- Cognitive-communication therapy approaches
- Assessment and evaluation of speech, language, and swallowing function
- Service delivery within long-term care and skilled nursing environments
- Regulatory compliance and documentation standards for LTC/SNF
- Basic audiology services relevant to the SLP scope in facility settings
