Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department with initiative and professionalism
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care based on acuity
- Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial needs and communicate changes to physicians and mid-level providers
- Perform and document patient assessments, IV starts, and monitor response to treatments
- Operate and troubleshoot manual and electronic medical equipment safely and effectively
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and provide direction to ED techs and registration staff
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and assist with emergency interventions
Qualifications
- Current MT State RN license (required)
- Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (required)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC — current or obtained within 6 months of hire (required)
- BSN preferred
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced emergency setting
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing principles and triage best practices
- Patient assessment and rapid clinical decision making
- IV skills and medication administration
- Operation of manual and electronic medical equipment
- Basic computer and office skills for documentation and communication
- Compassionate patient- and family-centered communication
