Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department with initiative and professionalism
• Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care based on acuity
• Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial needs and communicate changes to physicians and mid-level providers
• Perform and document patient assessments, IV starts, and monitor response to treatments
• Operate and troubleshoot manual and electronic medical equipment safely and effectively
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and provide direction to ED techs and registration staff
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and assist with emergency interventions

Qualifications

• Current MT State RN license (required)
• Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (required)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC — current or obtained within 6 months of hire (required)
• BSN preferred
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced emergency setting

Education

• Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing principles and triage best practices
• Patient assessment and rapid clinical decision making
• IV skills and medication administration
• Operation of manual and electronic medical equipment
• Basic computer and office skills for documentation and communication
• Compassionate patient- and family-centered communication
