Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide full-spectrum obstetrics and gynecology care to a diverse community
- Manage gynecologic consults referred from primary care providers and in-house midwives
- Perform a variety of office-based gynecologic procedures with attention to patient comfort
- Maintain a steady surgical volume and utilize three new operating rooms
- Participate in minimally invasive and advanced laparoscopic surgeries
- Provide physician backup for midwife-led obstetric care, including uncomplicated deliveries and VBAC support
- Support birth center services including water birth, nitrous oxide, and 24-hour epidural availability
- Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care
Qualifications
- MD (Staff MD OB/GYN) with OB/GYN training
- Experience providing full-spectrum obstetrics and gynecology care (clinic, L&D, surgical)
- Comfort and skill with minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures and office-based gynecologic procedures
- Willingness to participate in home-call (1:4) and provide occasional OR coverage
- Ability to collaborate effectively with midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses and support staff
- Must be locally commutable (not open to candidates who commute more than 1 hour)
- Not accepting visa candidates (U.S. work authorization required); not open to LOCUM or LOCUM-to-PERM candidates
- Not open to candidates planning to work this role in conjunction with another position
Education
- MD (Doctor of Medicine) — OB/GYN training/ residency completed
Knowledge & Skills
- Full-spectrum obstetrics and gynecology clinical knowledge
- Labor and delivery management, prenatal care, and VBAC support
- Minimally invasive and advanced laparoscopic surgery techniques
- Office-based gynecologic procedures and outpatient clinic workflow
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with midwives
- Comfort supporting birth center offerings such as water birth, nitrous oxide, and epidurals
- Evidence-based clinical decision-making and quality-focused practice
- Strong patient communication and community-oriented care approach
