Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Day shifts, PRN schedule. Options for half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) presentations; typical coverage is 1-2 days per week depending on location. Specific start/end times vary by provider and facility; daytime work only.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and care
- Conduct interview-based clinical exams and appropriate focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Complete clear, timely medical documentation including reports, addendums, and medical opinions
- Respect the non-treatment nature of these evaluations by providing objective, impartial assessments
- Collaborate with VES administrative staff to schedule exams and submit required documentation on time
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all credentialing and compliance standards
Qualifications
- Active MD or DO license (Maine license preferred or ability to obtain state licensure)
- Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
- Experience or training in Compensation & Pension exams, Separation Health Assessments, or similar medicolegal/forensic evaluations is highly desirable
- Comfort performing interview-based exams and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
- Professional medical documentation skills with the ability to produce reports and addendums
- Ability to work independently in your own office or at a VES facility within a 50-mile radius of the assigned city
- Willingness to complete required onboarding and training prior to performing exams
Education
- MD or DO required; board certification or equivalent clinical training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in conducting interview-based clinical assessments
- Proficient with range of motion and muscle strength testing techniques
- Strong medical documentation and report-writing abilities
- Familiarity with Compensation & Pension exam standards and separation assessment processes
- Ability to interpret diagnostic information and produce clear addendums or medical opinions
- Good communication skills when interacting with Veterans and administrative staff
