Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: PRN (per diem) — half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) shifts. Days per week vary by site: Coeburn, VA — 2 days/week; Covington, VA — 1 day/week; Hillsville, VA — 2 days/week; Emporia, VA — ½ day/week. Day shifts (schedule varies by assignment).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and attention to detail
- Conduct thorough interview-based medical exams, capturing patient history and functional impact
- Complete focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Document findings clearly and submit timely, high-quality exam reports and any required addendums
- Collaborate with Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) and follow client-specific protocols (non-treatment exams only)
- Maintain required administrative tasks such as medical opinions and reading diagnostics as needed
- Adhere to quick credentialing and onboarding processes to ensure compliance and readiness
Qualifications
- Physician (MD or DO) — current licensure required (must meet state requirements for where you’ll practice)
- Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine preferred
- Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and separation assessments is highly valued
- Comfort performing interview-focused exams and basic physical testing (ROM, muscle strength)
- Strong documentation skills and ability to complete reports and addendums in a timely manner
- Ability to work locally within a 50-mile radius of the assignment or in your own office when applicable
Education
- Medical degree (MD or DO) — appropriate state medical licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in interview-based medical evaluations and focused physical exams
- Skill in range of motion testing and manual muscle strength assessment
- Clear, concise medical report writing and ability to prepare addendums/medical opinions
- Familiarity with non-treatment exam protocols and medicolegal documentation
- Good time management for completing exams and required administrative follow-up
- Comfort working independently in clinic or office settings and collaborating with a centralized team
