Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered gastrointestinal care in both clinic and procedure settings
- Perform and interpret advanced endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, EUS, enteroscopy and video capsule endoscopy
- Deliver outpatient care including nutrition counseling, infusion services, telehealth visits, and hemorrhoid banding procedures
- Participate in a 1:4 hospital call rotation at Wellstar Spalding to support inpatient GI needs
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of MD/DO physicians and advanced practice providers to optimize continuity of care
- Contribute to practice growth and quality initiatives and pursue leadership/partnership opportunities as available
- Mentor and work alongside APPs and new graduates to foster a strong, patient-focused clinic culture
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree (physician) with training in Gastroenterology
- Board Certification in Gastroenterology preferred — candidates previously certified who need to re-obtain will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Comfort and experience with endoscopic procedures listed (colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, EUS, enteroscopy, hemorrhoid banding, capsule endoscopy) or strong willingness to perform these
- Ability to participate in hospital call schedule (1:4 at Wellstar Spalding)
- Open to new graduates through 2025 — strong mentorship available
- Eligible for or willing to obtain necessary state medical licensure; United Digestive handles J-1 and H-1B sponsorship filings
Education
- MD or DO (medical degree)
- Gastroenterology fellowship completion preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, EUS, enteroscopy)
- Experience with outpatient clinic workflows and managing ~15–18 patient visits per day
- Familiarity with infusion therapies, nutrition counseling, and telehealth platforms
- Strong clinical judgment for inpatient consults and hospital-based GI care
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills to work with APPs and referral networks
- Commitment to patient-centered, cost-effective care and continuous quality improvement
