Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting) to preserve dignity and comfort
- Support safe mobility by lifting, turning, repositioning, and transferring residents using approved techniques and equipment
- Deliver meal trays, assist with feeding as needed, and document intake to support nutritional goals
- Weigh residents per facility protocols and report weight changes to the supervising nurse
- Observe and report changes in skin condition and other clinical concerns promptly
- Complete daily flow sheets and documentation accurately to ensure continuity of care
- Communicate regularly with nurses and supervisors about resident needs, refusals, or barriers
- Collaborate across units when floating to provide consistent, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Active Michigan CNA license at time of submission (required)
- Minimum 1 year of Long Term Care (LTC) experience (required)
- Minimum 1 year of travel or contract nursing experience (required)
- BLS (AHA) certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Stable work history; no short-term assignments under 13 weeks unless justified
- No active disciplinary actions on CNA certification
- Two supervisory references from the last 2 years and current resume with permanent address
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of ADLs and basic resident care
- Safe transfer and positioning techniques
- Accurate documentation and flow sheet completion
- Basic nutrition support and meal assistance practices
- Ability to observe, report, and escalate changes in resident condition
- Good communication and team collaboration skills
- Comfort floating to different units and adapting to new team workflows
- Familiarity with LTC regulatory standards and facility care plans
