Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a mental health correctional setting
- Take vitals, assist with intake, and perform routine clinical procedures within MA scope
- Support medication administration and documentation in partnership with nursing and mental health staff
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Promote safety and infection control practices to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with security and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care
- Contribute to a special project initiative by bringing practical clinical skills and a positive attitude
Qualifications
- Active Medical Assistant certification preferred; CNA candidates with mental health experience will also be considered
- Experience working with mental health populations strongly preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification required or must obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass background checks and any facility-specific clearance for correctional settings
- Current immunizations and TB screening as required by facility policy
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a secure clinical environment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred; CNA certification accepted
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with mental health clinical workflows and patient-centered communication
- Proficient in taking vitals, performing basic clinical procedures, and assisting with medications
- Experience with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
- Knowledge of infection control, HIPAA, and safety protocols
- De-escalation and boundary-setting skills for working with challenging behaviors
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to coordinate with security and clinical staff
