Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using the nursing process and create individualized care plans that promote safety and recovery
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate seamless care and ensure safe handoffs
- Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with facility policies
- Document patient care accurately and promptly to support clinical decision-making
- Educate patients and families with compassion to support recovery and independence
- Drive unit performance improvements and participate in shared governance initiatives
- Provide cross-unit clinical guidance using critical thinking to identify safety risks and enhance the patient experience
- Float across inpatient units as needed, adapt quickly to different workflows, and maintain high-quality care
Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- NIHSS certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification required
- Influenza (flu) vaccination required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
- Previous inpatient or travel RN experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to float across multiple inpatient units
- Strong communication, teamwork, dependability, and a patient-centered mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with the nursing process and clinical assessment
- Skilled in interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination
- Safe medication administration with strict adherence to policy
- Accurate clinical documentation and electronic charting
- Patient care planning and compassionate patient and family education
- Strong critical thinking focused on patient safety and experience
- Adaptability across multiple inpatient unit workflows
- Clinical leadership when providing cross-unit guidance
