Roles & Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze patient histories to design individualized testing plans that guide clinical decisions
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain sleep lab equipment to ensure clean, artifact-free recordings
- Apply electrodes and sensors and perform physiologic calibrations to meet quality standards
- Conduct full polysomnographic studies including MSLT, MWT, PAP titrations, and parasomnia evaluations
- Score sleep stages and clinical events accurately to provide actionable information to physicians
- Perform PAP mask fittings and therapeutic interventions to maximize patient comfort and treatment success
- Document study observations clearly so physicians receive concise, useful reports
- Communicate compassionately and professionally with patients and the multidisciplinary care team
- Troubleshoot equipment and resolve issues quickly to keep the lab running smoothly
Qualifications
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) required
- Current BLS/CPR (BCLS) certification required
- Completion of an accredited polysomnography program or AASM A-STEP program, or equivalent documented competency
- Hands-on experience with polysomnographic procedures and accurate record scoring
- Comfortable working night shifts, weekends, and some holidays
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide age-specific care from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Experience with NOX software preferred
- Professional bedside manner and reliable documentation skills
Education
- Completion of an accredited polysomnography program or AASM A-STEP program, or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in polysomnography and accurate record scoring
- Patient information collection and individualized testing preparation
- Equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for reliable recordings
- PAP mask fitting and oxygen titration procedures
- Recognition of clinical events and implementation of safety and therapeutic interventions
- Clear, effective documentation and multidisciplinary communication
- Familiarity with NOX software (preferred)
