    Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality post-operative care for spine and orthopedic patients
- Perform frequent patient assessments and intervene early to prevent complications
- Administer medications and multimodal pain management safely and according to orders
- Monitor, document, and trend patient status and responses to interventions
- Educate patients and families on mobility, wound care, and safe discharge planning
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate timely and safe discharges
- Prioritize patient needs in a busy unit while maintaining clear and thorough documentation
- Recognize subtle changes in patient status and escalate appropriately to keep patients safe
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Colorado RN license (required)
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (required)
- Solid med/surg background with post-op spine and orthopedic experience
- Comfort managing a patient ratio up to 1:5
- COVID-19 vaccination required per state mandate
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough med/surg and post-op nursing knowledge focused on spine and orthopedic care
- Familiarity with post-anesthesia recovery needs and multimodal pain management strategies
- Proficient documentation skills and experience with typical hospital EMRs
- Ability to prioritize effectively in a busy unit and manage multiple patient needs
- Excellent teamwork and clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Keen assessment skills to recognize subtle changes in patient status and escalate appropriately
