Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert neonatal nursing care for infants with respiratory distress, prematurity, hypoglycemia, and suspected sepsis
• Perform IV insertions and manage PICC, central, and arterial lines to maintain safe vascular access
• Manage respiratory support including CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators to stabilize tiny patients
• Administer medications and neonatal infusions accurately and document care according to policy
• Assist with unit procedures such as circumcisions, PICC removals, and lumbar puncture support
• Operate and monitor NICU equipment including giraffe beds, feeding pumps, and IV pumps
• Communicate clinical status and care plans clearly and compassionately with families and the interdisciplinary team
• Support patient safety by floating to maternal-child units and serving as a sitter when needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Missouri (compact license accepted if applicable)
• Previous travel nurse experience required so you can hit the ground running
• Proven NICU nursing experience with strong line and airway skills (PICC, A-lines, ventilator/CPAP/BiPAP experience)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Comfortable and experienced working night (NOC) shifts
• Ability to float to maternal-child units and adapt to varied patient needs
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative teamwork mindset
• Reliable, professional, and compassionate approach to family-centered care

Education

• ADN or BSN required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal assessment and advanced monitoring
• IV insertion and safe vascular access techniques
• PICC, central line and arterial (A-line) management
• Ventilator management and noninvasive respiratory support such as CPAP and BiPAP
• Medication administration and neonatal infusion care
• Familiarity with NICU equipment including giraffe beds, feeding pumps, and IV pumps
• Infection control practices and family-centered care principles
• Adaptability to float between maternal-child units and clear, compassionate communication
