Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic procedures including portable, C-arm, and fluoroscopic studies to support accurate diagnoses
- Operate imaging equipment safely while applying ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure
- Collaborate with radiologists and multidisciplinary teams to select optimal imaging approaches
- Position patients with care and respect to produce diagnostically useful images and prioritize patient comfort
- Prepare contrast media and assist radiologists during special procedures as needed
- Document procedures accurately in the electronic medical record and submit images promptly to PACS
- Provide compassionate patient education and mentor students and new technologists to build team capability
Qualifications
- ARRT Radiography registration required
- IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required to practice in Illinois
- Minimum of 2 years of radiography experience
- Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- Strong teamwork, clear communication, and accurate documentation skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of radiation protection and ALARA principles
- Proficiency with PACS, Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Experience operating mobile radiologic equipment in OR, ER, and bedside settings
- Skilled with C-arm and fluoroscopic procedures and portable imaging
- Excellent patient positioning, technique selection, and exposure factor determination
- Accurate documentation and adherence to quality control
- Mentoring and teaching skills to support students and new technologists
