Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused post-operative nursing care for spine and orthopedic patients to promote safe, timely recoveries
• Perform frequent assessments and manage pain, drains, dressings, and post-op complications with confidence
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, PT/OT and the interdisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress promptly and clearly in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge instructions, and follow-up plans to support successful outcomes
• Prioritize patient safety while maintaining appropriate ratios and delivering high-quality care
• Identify, escalate, and respond to post-op complications promptly to ensure the best possible outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Colorado RN license required
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Comfortable with Med/Surg fundamentals and working with 1:5 patient ratios
• Experience in spine and orthopedic post-op nursing preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required per state mandate
• Willingness to follow company-shared housing rules and work holidays or flexible schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) - required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-op care best practices for spine and orthopedic patients
• Strong Med/Surg nursing fundamentals with solid assessment and clinical judgment
• Wound care, drain management, and IV therapy skills
• Safe medication administration and multimodal pain management
• Clear, timely documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced surgical recovery setting
• Ability to identify and escalate post-op complications promptly
