Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
- Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status and intervene promptly to ensure patient safety
- Collaborate closely with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate seamless care
- Respond calmly and effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies with precise clinical actions
- Float between units and manage Progressive Care overflow to maintain patient flow and unit efficiency
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly to support continuity of care
- Serve as a dependable clinical resource during night shifts and uphold high standards of practice
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Vermont or eligibility to obtain Vermont licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is a plus
- Preferred 1+ year hands-on Labor & Delivery or postpartum/newborn experience
- Comfortable floating between units and managing Progressive Care overflow
- Reliable availability and commitment to night-shift assignments
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and clear communication skills
Education
- ADN or BSN (BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Fetal monitoring and interpretation
- Labor support, delivery techniques, and postpartum care
- Newborn assessment and basic neonatal care
- IV therapy and safe medication administration
- Emergency response and neonatal resuscitation awareness
- Electronic medical record documentation
- Team-based care, adaptability, and patient and family education
