Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, safe labor and delivery care while supporting families through childbirth
• Manage postpartum care and coordinate newborn nursery needs for smooth family transitions
• Assist hands-on during deliveries and perform scrub duties as needed
• Respond promptly to obstetric and neonatal emergencies following unit protocols
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately and in a timely way
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the interprofessional team to deliver family-centered care
• Educate and empower families on postpartum recovery, infant care, and discharge planning
• Participate in unit safety and quality initiatives to improve patient experience and outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Washington RN license required (multi-state licenses accepted with verification)
• Current BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• STABLE training preferred
• Hands-on experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery highly preferred
• Comfort performing scrub duties during deliveries is a plus
• Ability to work independently on night shift while collaborating closely with the team
• Strong documentation, triage, and clear communication skills

Education

• ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on labor and delivery care, postpartum management, and newborn nursery skills
• Neonatal resuscitation and strong assessment and triage capability (NRP)
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic medical records
• Clear, timely documentation and the ability to perform under pressure
• Excellent communication and a family-centered care approach
• Teamwork with physicians, midwives, and nursing colleagues
• Ability to teach and support new parents through discharge planning
