Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based respiratory care and diagnostics to improve patient outcomes
- Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment with precision and confidence
- Collect and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide timely clinical decisions
- Provide emergency respiratory support during codes using ACLS, PALS, and NRP
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on patient-centered plans
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and safe home care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned, maintained, and ready for clinical use
Qualifications
- Current NBRC-RRT registration (required)
- Current Oregon Respiratory Care License (required)
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS (required)
- Current ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (required)
- Preferred: two years of clinical respiratory care experience
- Comfortable working in both critical care and non-critical care settings
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
Education
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
- Proficiency in ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Skill in airway management and emergency respiratory interventions
- Ability to perform and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Comfortable using electronic medical records for accurate documentation
- Excellent patient education and family communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced clinical environments
